Introduction:

As the cradle of Chinese film talent, Beijing Film Academy has rich artistic resources and platforms. The International Animation BA Program at Beijing Film Academy’s College of International Education is a four-year undergraduate program specifically designed for international students studying in China. Its aim is to cultivate animation professionals with an international perspective, innovative spirit, and practical abilities. This program offers bilingual instruction in both Chinese and English, leveraging the Academy’s profound background in animation arts education and integrating international cutting-edge animation teaching philosophies. It provides comprehensive and in-depth animation education for international students in China.

Scholarship:

Based on comprehensive factors such as exam results, admitted students have the opportunity to receive a tuition reduction through the “Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students” provided by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.

Application Requirements:

• Applicants should be foreign nationals with a valid foreign passport who are not of Chinese nationality. Applicants with parents or one parent of Chinese nationality must have held a valid non-Chinese passport or nationality certificate for at least 4 years. Furthermore, applicants must provide proof of residence outside of China for more than 2 years within the last 4 years, up until April 30th of the year of admission. A period of 9 months of residence abroad within any one year can be counted towards the two-year requirement, as verified by immigration stamps.

• Should be at least 18 years old on the date of enrollment in principle.

• Must meet the health requirements issued by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health of China.

• For applicants who are required to perform military service, they should in principle complete their military service obligations before applying.

• Must have no criminal record.

• Should possess a certain level of proficiency in Chinese and English to be able to adapt to the bilingual teaching environment.

•Have no physical defects, normal hearing, and no color blindness or color weakness.

•Have normal hearing. Visual acuity in both eyes should be above 5.0 (above 4.8 after correction with contact lenses, according to the new vision chart), without color blindness or weak color vision. Should be no limb deformities, no scars, tattoos, birthmarks, or skin diseases on the body surface.

The application fee is 800 CNY. The application evaluation will begin after the school receives the application fee.

The application fee is NOT refundable.

Step 3: Interview

All submitted materials will be evaluated, and interviews will be arranged for applicants who pass the material evaluation starting from mid-June 2024. The content of the interview and the specific arrangements will be notified later.

Step 4: Admission

Admissions will be determined through a comprehensive assessment of each applicant’s submitted materials and interview performance. Admission letters will be sent via email from early July.

Application Checklist:

• The “Beijing Film Academy 2024 Application Form for International Undergraduate Students” with a recent photo attached (see attachment).

Application Form Requirements: Please fill in the form using a computer. Handwritten entries may be illegible and will render the form invalid. A photo must be affixed to the form. Please print the form and sign it. Applications without signatures will not be processed.

• A recent color standard passport-sized photograph, not exceeding 200kb in size and supporting file formats .jpg, *.jpeg *.png. The pixel size should be greater than 295413. Please name the file with your Chinese name.

• Documentation of full-time regular high school graduation (for graduating seniors, a predicted graduation certificate from the current school can be provided, with the required graduation documents to be submitted before enrollment), along with transcripts for all high school courses. Documents must be original or notarized, and the language should be Chinese or English. If it is in a third language, please provide a notarized translation into Chinese or English.

• A copy of the first page of your passport, which must be a valid ordinary passport with a validity period of more than six months.

• Original personal statement, written in both Chinese and English, with each document containing 800-1000 words.

• Portfolio. Works that demonstrate the applicant’s creative thinking, artistic skills, and technical proficiency. The total number of files should not exceed 10. Audio and video files should be within 5 minutes in length, in the format of MOV / MP4, and not exceed 500MB in size; images should be within 15MB in size, in the format of JPG.

• Proof of language proficiency: In principle, an HSK Level 4 certificate and proof of English language proficiency are required.

• Various award certificates and relevant supporting materials (not required, but please provide if available).

• Proof of payment for the application fee.

• Proof of financial support, providing a financial guarantee of no less than 600,000 CNY or an equivalent amount in foreign currency (proof of parental bank deposit).

Visa:

Students who are admitted must bring their letter of admission and visa application form for studying in China to the Chinese Embassy to apply for a study visa. Students whose study period exceeds six months must apply for an X-type visa. Within 30 days of arrival in China, they need to visit the International Student Office to convert their X visa into a residence permit.

Enrollment:

• New students are expected to report for enrollment in early September 2024.

• To maintain the normal teaching order, students enrolled in 2024 are not allowed to sign any economic contracts with any institutions (companies) outside the school during their studies.

Graduation:

In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and our academy, undergraduate students who meet the graduation requirements within the prescribed maximum study duration will be awarded a graduation certificate from Beijing Film Academy. Bachelor’s degree certificates are also awarded to undergraduate students who meet the requirements for degree conferral.
